Middle Plate :


A Revolution into Volume Filtration Era


Talk about filtration we will think about a piece of filter in sheet form to filter out dust. Example of this kind of filter is as shown in Fig. 1 below for indoor air conditional unit use. This filter is washable for reuse.

Another is to fold this filter so many times in zig-zag form to increase its surface area thereby increase the filtration capacity. But this kind of folded filter can’t be reused due to difficulty to clean the dust stuck in between the filter net. Example of this kind of filter is as shown in Fig. 2 below.

The filter in sheet form (Fig. 1) is considered using an area (this sheet having length and width) filtration, while for the zig-zag filter (Fig. 2) is having a bit of volume filtration (it has length and width, and some thickness).


But both type of filters not having true volume filtration capability because these filters can’t arrange in cascaded manner to produce volume filtration.


Then I am coming up with this “Rectangular Shape Filter with Middle Plate (RFMP)” that can be arranged in cascaded manner to produce volume filtration capability.


More over, this RFMP can be constructed into very thin thickness without affecting its air filtration efficiency, and the ease of cleaning. Then each RFMP housing can fit more RFMPs. Then the air or water filtration capacity of the respective device will be dramatically increased.


The example of the

cascading arrangement is as shown in Fig. 3 below of an air filtration device using this RFMP as air filtration medium.

The example of the RFMP is as shown in Fig. 4 below.

This RFMP having filter net surrounding all it surfaces, except one opening on top. Then during air filtration, the air will flow through this opening, filtered by the net on this RFMP. The filtered air will flow out from this net, then blow out from the system as clean air. The air flow direction on this RFMP is as shown in Fig. 4 below.

The most important part of this RFMP is its middle plate that separating this RFMP into two parts. The main function of this middle plate is to block the dirt during water or compressed air cleaning. At this time the user just needs to hold this RFMP up site down as shown in Fig. 5 below.

Then the user uses water to spray directly into this RFMP mesh. Then the dirt stick on the Surface if this RFMP net will be push out by the sprayed water. Then this dirt will hit the surface of this middle plate, then flow downward along with the water, and finally comes out from this RFMP.


The user needs to clean the other side of this net using the same method mentioned above.
